It's been awhile since I've posted anything, so here's the latest updates:
We officially moved out of our house on Friday, April 25th. It's over. It's done. There's no going back. Driving truckloads of our stuff (which I thought we sold!) to Sarah's parents' house all day and coming back to our empty house was very difficult for me. I was wrecked, both physically and emotionally (mostly emotionally). It was not my best day. Sarah and I had tickets to go see the Ben Folds Five that very night. It was pretty damned inconsiderate of Ben Folds to schedule a concert on our moving day, but despite me shaking my fist toward the heavens, Ben was going on stage as scheduled. I was emotionally wrecked (see previous paragraph) and, looking at the piles of boxes crammed into our tiny new living space, was pretty much resolved to not going to the concert. But Sarah suggested I call up my buddy Dave and see if he wanted to go. I did, and he did, and we had a great time! I spent some time with Dave, and that inconsiderate bastard Ben Folds put on an awesome show! Thanks, Sarah...that's exactly what I needed. My wife is awesome. So now we've been living with Sarah's parents for a couple of weeks. It's been going...fine. Just fine. Fine, really. My commute went from 5 miles to over 18 miles (3 miles of which is dirt road), we have rabbit ears on top of our TV in order to get fuzzy local channels, and dial-up internet are just the highlights. Simone loves living with her grandparents, obviously, but the change has been hard on her, too. So we've had to deal with some unusual behavior from her. I don't want to sound too complain-y, though. This whole process is necessary for the whole "moving to London" thing. We're virtually debt-free now, we have a good chunk of change in the bank, and we're able to keep saving up more money before we move. <sarah_bday_zola.jpg> We also celebrated Sarah's birthday last week with the people pictured here plus a few others. A night of Pizza Hut pizza and drinking at Zola was "old school", but just what we needed.
